Lamona HJA3300 only working on grill & turbo fan

Hi,

I have just been given an oven that only works on grill and turbo fan. I think turbo fan is only a pre-heat setting. The person who gave it to me has used the oven on turbo fan for 3 months for all cooking, it just cooks a little hot. On standard fan setting the light comes on and the fan works but no heat. I have searched the web and found others with this problem but no fixes have been posted. If the oven works on turbo fan I imagine it’s not the element or maybe there are 2 elements ???. Before I take it apart I would like to know if anybody has knowledge of this fault.

On turbo mode, basically, all that happens is that all the elements are brought on all at one time to heat the oven cavity as quickly as possible.

I’d bet that it’s just the fan element that’s gone so it’s cooking using the upper element (with grill) and lower heating element if fitted with the fan running.

If I’m correct and, I’m pretty confident that I will be, then you need one of either of these:

Of course you’d have to check the element to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain.

Thanks for the reply kwatt,

I have just tested the element inside the oven around the fan, continuity ok, also the element heats up when oven is set to fan/turbo, when checked again with standard fan setting element is cold

Just one last question before I purchase the switch, first turn of the dial is light only – all ok, second turn of the dial is standard fan – fan starts but element stays cold – third turn of dial turbo fan – fan starts and element heats up, do you think switch in standard fan mode can operate light and fan but be faulty on operating the element.

Yes, the switch essentially makes or breaks power to the element but the thermostat is also in circuit to cut it in and out.

However, if the oven doesn’t overheat on turbo then the stat should be okay and, in any event, if the stat was OC then I don’t think it’d work at all but, that is dependent on how it’s wired of course.

It will be relatively simple to work it out with a meter and some patience.
