ParticipantHi,
This looks a great board, having had a look around. Hope someone might be able to help me out. I’ve got a Lamona HJA 8631 fully integrated dishwasher. It’s about 14 months old and has suddenly stopped draining at the end of a wash cycle.I’ve scooped and soaked the water up, removed the filters and given them a good clean. I then started a really hot, empty cycle to see if that blasted through. Unfortunately, exactly the same result. Cycle ends, water all left at the bottom. I had a search online and found a few posts for this kind of problem with the HJA 8630, which I’m assuming must be a closely related model(?) In those cases the problem seemed to be the pump having died or got blocked with debris.
I removed the kickplate and found that the tray at the foot of the machine was filled with a layer of water. I’ve soaked that up now. I’d read a tip on the 8630 that if you held the ‘go’ button for 3 seconds down, the light starts flashing and then if you close the door the machine will drain. I don’t know if that’s the same with the 8631 but I gave it a go. The light does start flashing, then if you shut the door, I could hear a quiet humming noise from down by the pump, but no draining!
So I’m thinking the next step would be to remove the pump just to see if any debris can be easily identified and cleaned. But I’m a bit lost at this point. Posts about the 8630 seem to suggest there’s no retaining screw and it just twists off. I can’t see a screw on this model either, but I’m not getting any movement at all trying to twist it. Having said that, I’m reluctant to give it some real welly in case I’m doing it wrong and there is something I should be unclipping/unscrewing or whatever.
If anyone could give me a pointer on whether or not I’m going at this the right way, and if so, how I might remove the pump, that would be very much appreciated. I’ll try to upload a pic that shows what I’m looking at. Any advice gratefully receieved.
Cheers,

Do a simple continuity check on the drain pump. If it’s open circuit, there’s your culprit.
If not, then strip it out and check it over.

Hello i was wondering if you can help me out a family member is having the same problem i`ve taking the pump out(not the easiest of jobs with it been built in:)) and seems to be fine i have no way of checking it out for a fault. But there was a lot of water sitting at the bottom of the tray and thats where the thermostat sits but might have shorted. Anyway have you been able to rectify your problem, i have priced a new pump approx £27.00, but do not no how to get off without force. And do not even no if thats at fault

Hi,
Just managed to fix my Lamona HJA 8631 integrated dishwasher which had suddenly stopped draining; following wash cycle lots dirty water left in bottom of machine. Checked filters but they were clean of debris. Would not drain when tried the tip seen here and elsewhere to press Start/Pause button 3 secs so light is flashing, to activate a quick drain. Just heard a faint humming noise.
Basically first removed dirty water from bottom of machine. Then had to remove the skirting board bit at bottom, then the metal kickplate, then turn off power at mains, disconnect wires from pump and then remove pump. Have to turn pump hard anti clockwise a 1/4 of a turn to remove pump. Dont be afraid to give it a bit of welly !
Water will spill out of dishwasher then so you meed to mop it up and make sure all dry inside. Managed to extract a bit of plant matter from pump (by getting a finger in and making sure nothing in there) possibly a bit of grape vine, probably the culprit.
Put pump back in reverse order of how it was taken off i.e. Clockwise. Make sure wires are pushed back into same connectors taken out from. Replace metal kickplate and skirting board then (and only then) turn back on at mains.I ran a quick wash to test (economy wash) and it worked perfectly. Such a relief, and the missus is delighted ! Have now just run it on 70degree program, full load, and all is well , all is sparkling 8)
Hope this can help someone with the same problem.
🙂 Remember to always work safe, disconnect from mains before undergoing works. 🙂

I had a problem with a Lamona 8601 not draining. I follow the very helpful advice and checked the drain pump but this was not the problem. The cause was simply that the waste pipe was blocked where it was connected to the sink drain. Remove a small amount of debris and it not works fine. Check this before replacing the pump.

Just want to say a big thank you.
My Lamona dishwasher was not draining. Woke up on New Year’s eve to find the dishes looking clean but the bottom of appliance full of grey water.
Scooped out the water and checked all the filters. When I forced the programme to end by holding the start button, I did not hear the usual pump sound.
Following the instructions here, I removed the pump. Strangely, there was nothing in it, and everything looked clean and good. The reassembled machine works perfectly. By the way if you are not sure which part is the pump, google Lamona pump for an image of that part.
Very grateful!

Ive had a sinilar problem but managed to fix it.
Our pump was humming but the dishwasher wasn’t working. After taking the integrated door off and the lower front panel (switching electric off first) I too noticed water in the bottom tray. I soaked it up with kitchen roll, switched on and watched as it started to work. However I noticed the thicker pipe on the right side (in the picture above) was leaking from the connection so I stopped the dishwasher, switched the power off again and noticed that the pipe was loose. It must have worked loose over the 4 years we have had it. I put it back and made sure it was tight (it has a clip that tightens once you take the pressure off it).
Everything is fine now.
So first thing for me would be to dry the base, switch on and run it and see what happens. If it’s a leak it will be obvious.

ParticipantRe: Lamona HJA8631 won’t change program cycle
Please can someone shine a light on my frustrating dishwasher issue. This dishwasher is almost 3 years old now and been looked after properly. A few days ago it stopped working properly.
When pressing the program button to move along this different cycles nothing happens. It’s stuck on the no heat cycle and won’t move along. When trying it the other day just out of morbid curiosity it descided to let me move it along to the 70 degree wash. The wash completed fine. No problems. The water was heated and the washer drIned perfectly. When I tried to change it to a lower heat cycle (50 degree economy wash) it just stayed On the no heat cycle again. I can use the force drain setting (press on/off switch for 3 secs till light flashes) and it drains no problem. I can start the test cycle and that gets so far then just stops and all cycle lights flash. When I do start that test cycle though when it stops and I open the dishwasher there are bubbles in the bottom and water wish I use the force drain to empty. It will do a full no heat cycle but that’s it. I’ve made sure all filters are clean and checked the pump which also was all clear.
It’s driving me crazy now. Any help would be great fully appreciated.
