Would appreciate any suggestions on this:-
The other day I noticed water leaking from behind the bottom of the dishwasher door. Opened the door to find the water level was too high. Figuring there was a blockage, here’s what I tried:
1. Drained the water with a sponge & bucket
2. Confirmed filters were cleaned.
3. Disconnected the appliance and confirmed drain hose free of blockages
4. Removed the drain pump, the impeller rotates as expected, electrical resistance ~250 ohms
5. Squeezed the other large hoses to confirm they were not blocked
6. Re-assembled and reconnected the appliance and started a wash cycle
7. After 10 mins, same leak as before
8. Then realised that cycling through the Cancel button triggers a drain cycle, which did actually drain the waterConclusion: The filters, drain pump and drain hoses themselves are not at fault, so I suspect issue lies with whatever senses the water level. I did a search on various spare parts shops but could find such a sensor. Any idea what the issue might be?

ParticipantHi Dave, I couldn’t really say. Once I see the water leaking I stop the wash by opening the door. At that point I’d estimate the water height at around 1″ above the filter.
So, water is counted in rather than filled to a specific height! That’s really helpful to know. If the flow meter was faulty, the electronics wouldn’t know when to stop letting in water. And I guess the reason my dishwater doesn’t leak at the very beginning of a cycle is because it takes around 10 mins to heat the water?The flow-meter you linked to, was that just an example of a flow-meter or is it suitable for a LAM8606? I suppose my model is a re-badged Beko?

Moderatorflow meter should be correct one for your machine
you could check the wiring of the flow meter back to the board as a start

I’ll check the wiring. As a precaution to minimize the number of times I need to disconnect the dishwasher, I also purchased the part you linked to. The appliance is actually under warranty and an engineer is due to arrive in 12 days time. Hopefully the flow meter arrives soon (I chose 1st class) and I can fix it myself and cancel the engineer as I’d rather not have anyone visiting the house until COVID is well behind us.Either way, I’ll let you all know the outcome and hopefully it’ll help someone. Thanks again.

Unfortunately the part I ordered didn’t arrive, so I cancelled the order and was issued an immediate refund. The engineer arrived yesterday and diagnosed the fault lay with the flow meter. In fact he had one in his hand when he entered the house, so this is obviously a very common issue, confirmed when he told me he carries over a dozen of them on his van.
Anyway, if anyone needs to replace the flow meter on this model of dishwater, here’s how:-
1) Remove the galvanised inspection panel at the bottom front of the machine (may not be necessary, but the engineer did – possibly to gain access to a side panel screw?)
2) Remove the left panel
3) The flow meter is located on the left side at the bottom rear
4) Un-clip the flow meter inlet and outlet pipes and electrical connector
5) Reverse the aboveI thought the engineer was very professional, highly competent and followed appropriate pandemic precautions. His website is https://toucanappliancesltd.co.uk/
I did some testing on the old part. The reed switch seemed to work as expected hooked up to a multimeter whilst waving a magnet over it. The impeller seemed to spin freely and its built-in magnet operated the reed switch too. So I figure either the electrical connector was high resistance or maybe the impeller isn’t spinning as fast as it should possibly due to limescale (which is a big problem in my area).That’s all folks and good luck fixing your own appliances.

Moderatormay seem like a nice guy but if you look in his terms and conditions
“Parts are guaranteed for 30 days. you also have a recall period for the same fault for 30 days. If a new fault appears this will be a separate job T&C apply customer misuse or accidental damage is not covered.”
30 days is a bit unreasonable so customers need to be aware of this
I am about to replace an element i fitted 5 months ago free of charge

That’s a good spot, thanks for pointing it out. Luckily in my case the repair was carried out under warranty as he was hired by the Lamona Helpdesk.
