ParticipantHi,
When on any wash cycle the machine fills up with water, rotates the drum etc. then stops and the timer reverts back to the programme start time (i.e. 28 mins for a quick wash). If I put it on a spin cycle, drain and spin or even tumble dry, it works normally. I suspect the temperature thermostat/sensor.
I’ve checked it with a meter ant it reads around 4k ohms. I seen on a YouTube video for another model it should perhaps be 10x this resistance, 40k ohms. Any thoughts/advice greatly appreciated..January 27, 2024 at 1:48 pm #489353electrofix
Moderatorat 25 degrees it should be 4773 ohms +- 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

Moderatorif NTC was wrong too much it would throw up an error code but if just a bit out would under or oveheat but not do a reset
test both elements to earth on a high ohm scale with the wires disconnected

ParticipantThanks, any idea what the heating element should read for this model? Also, is the heating element used for the Dryer cycles?

Moderatorto earth millions of ohms
across terminals under 50 ohm
if you get a low reading on the element, no matter what it is they are ok
wahts more important is earth reading. some of which can be low enough to upset electronics but not low enough to blow trips

ParticipantSomething else I just discovered yesterday, if I select a ‘rinse and spin’ cycle, it also cuts out after a few mins once the water intake is complete. I presume the machine doesn’t heat water for rinsing so probably ruling out the NTC sensor and heating element. They both also test fine. Any further thoughts?

Moderatorhave you actually disconneted the heating elements and tried it ?
yes its a long shot but it has zero cost to it
we have a few machines it can make a difference. There is one zanussi machine where the display goes blank when the drier element has an small earth fault

ParticipantHi, I’ve disconnected the washer heating element and tested across it, it was 30 ohms or so. I’ve not tested to earth yet as I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} what you mean by that. Could you please explain?

Moderatordisconnect both wires
then put the meter on a high ohms scale, put one lead to either terminal of the heater and the other one to the metal case
closest video i can find ishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=J2uERRDMZdM&t=210
he is using a special meter but your meter can still sometimes work. also he says 1 meg is ok but on todays machines it can mess with the controls that low so if its under 10meg you may have a problem
you could try running the machine with the elements disconnected ( be sure to insulate connections and make safe

ParticipantIt’s fixed!!!!!!! On spin, especially at lower spin speeds a bracket on the outside of the drum was hitting a wire which connected the water intake solenoids to the power board. I’ve had it fixed under warranty before and I don’t think the cable management was done correctly after a board change. This led to a bunch of wires being too close to the bracket.
Thanks for your help and pointers. -
