KeymasterI am looking for a large capacity washing machine for washing my horses rugs.
I have seen some Whirlpool semi-commercial ones which seem to fit the bill – eg 9kg load and large door BUT all of the washing machines I seem to find need a hot and cold fill and I only have a cold water supply in my outdoor store room. Also I only have a ‘normal’ electricity supply and don’t know if some of these need a different supply (phase 3?)
Can anyone help or recommend a washing machine that will suit?

hi
In theory they may need a hot and cold fill but you can fill with just cold by putting the two hoses onto your cold pipework which will then allow the
machine to fill correctly and it will the water up itself.
the whirlpoolmachines should work correctly on a standard 13amp ring main, unless any other the whirlpool engineers know different.hope this helps

I was under the impression that the Whirlpool heavy duty washers had no heater in them and therefore needed hot and cold fill.
I maybe wrong but it would be worth checking out before you buy.

No, they don’t have a heater, not the usual US top loaders anyway, one of the reasons they are so reasonably priced by comparison to other similar machines 🙂
I don’t know the situation Tracey but it may be worth considering plumbing a hot supply to where the machine is and buy the Whirlpool as a Commercial machine capable of taking the same weight with a heater etc will cost in excess of £2k for anything half decent.
Please also bear in mind, the Whirlpool is as stated, Semi-Commercial and as such may not carry any guarantee as it will be put to full commercial use.

The Whirlpool Dreamspace semi commercial front loader does have an element in it. I have one in my garage and use it on cold fill only but you do reduce the programmes available because of this.

Thanks for your replies.
That’s good news to hear of the element Patches! 😀
Dave – It will only be for about 30 horse rugs a year (my horses are better dressed than me!) so it wouldn’t really be commercial use.

The Modewl number is WBB 24759 it has a 1200 spin and large capacity, and of course Bosch reliability

LG do an excellent large capacity Washing machine with direct drive (no belts) which can take a 10KG load.
Needs to be hard wired though.
