Customer just phoned with one of these, says it has Whirlpool Gold or something on it. not heating. Told him to look for a reset button but he cannot find one.

He has given me some numbers from the machine but they don’t make much sense to me and I cannot get SIOS to recognise it.

    Model number. 3RLEC8646KQ0.
    Serial number ML4601913
    Type EDOT-2305024-FM46 😕

Anyone have any ideas or know where the reset is likely to be on this?

    Jim.

    Hi Jim
Re- heat. No reset its a one shot toc, last one furthest away as you look at heater box in situ.

if you take stat out and tap it on the floor it will reset but check airflow before you do had one where hot air was recirculating into case and tripping stat

easy to get to although you have to lie on the floor nothing new there

I never knew about tapping stat, nice one 😀
A lot of these Jim are used by multiple bods. Some stop it prior to 10 mins cool down, some overload and some never clean the lint filter.
Combine that with Daves post you can see the majority of faults called to with this one. 😥
Some I have seen don’t use the correct vent hose or length aswell. Best stuff to use is flue liner not plastic flexi hose.

The last one i did was only a couple of weeks ago, it was installed in the cellar of a whacking great country house. The cellar must have had damp problems at some time because there was a huge extractor unit running in the adjacent cellar room. Said extractor was sucking air out at such a rate it reduced the air pressure in the whole cellar….i kinda twigged when i pulled the vent hose off the wall fitting and got a face full of fluff being sucked back into the room 😕

The maid said ‘that drier’s useless, it always takes ages to dry things’…the poor machine has been having a tug-of-war with the extractor from day one 😯

Spot on info, a sharp knock on the floor and the stat reset, he admitted he hadn’t cleaned it out for ages.

I looked all over and couldn’t see a 12 NC number, where did you find that one Greg.?

Often done this as a temporary with the Hotpoint/Creda one shots, gets you by when you are out of stock of the kits. 😉

You can do the same with a bit of blue tack, press it on the concave and give a sharp pull and out it comes, only till you get stock to replace tho.

    Re: Large Whirlpool American Dryer.

my philosophy has always been reset the stat if it does not trip within a month then its just had a bad day normally either a blocked outlet or condensor or been turned off half way through a cycle when the heater is on
anyway white knight has a manual reset as long as the stat is not damaged in reseting you still have the original protection

on the subject of hotpoint stats if you drill a very small hole with great care between the terminal (and i mean careful and extra slow and careful when it breaks through ) you can reset stat with stiff wire over and over like you could with the early ones
