ModeratorI know there was a thread on this subject but I am losing the will to live after trying several options in the search box. 🙁
FHP type motor with the tags coming out of the front of the plastic holders like some of the Zanussi machines have.
Not available as a spare from Indesit but I am sure someone found an alternative to fit.
I have tried modifying a standard set of FHP (1603910) carbons but that is a bit messy.
Can anyone enlighten me or remember where the original thread was. 😳
TIA.
Jim.

Hi Jim
Don’t know if these are the ones you are looking for 1603910 from this thread.Don

Doubt it, those are for really old motors now, nothing like the Zanussi type carbons I was thinking of.
If I am not mistaken those are like the 1603910 carbons but with the tag coming out from the other side, if I need any of those I just pop the new carbon and sleeve into the old plastic holders.
There is usually an L or a R on top of the holder to identify.
Can’t do that with this type. 😥EDIT, This was in reply to Martin, Dons post sneaked in between whilst I was composing. 😀

I did find that thread Don, not the one I was looking for sadly, that refers to much older motors, the machine I have is a WT741.
I’m sure the thread was within the last six to twelve months.

ModeratorRe: Late Hotpoint motor brushes.
I have modified a pair of 1603910 carbons for one of these today.
I had to cut a slot in the side of the top part of the new plastic holder to allow the inner sleeve to be rotated through 180° thus allowing the tag to face away from the motor body. Also had to snip off the two locating lugs from underneath as they are wider on the new type brushes than on the 1603910’s.
The only real problem I have had is getting them to bed in, it will wash but only do a series of short spins before aborting and flashing up a totally spurious F-08 fault.
I have since done my best with my trusty file to aid the bedding in process and await with some trepidation for my customers phone call.
It had been washing perfectly (and heating) for 30 minutes before I left. 🙂

These are the old brushes & holders, they look very much like ones that I have seen on Zanussi/Lux machines in the past, darned if I have a part number though.
Its possible the thread I was looking for was referring to a CESET motor, it appears that the Indecent Company don’t want to supply brushes for any recent motors. :rolls:

Looks very much as though the Qualtex CAR99’s will fit. I think you’ve got a copy of their c/brush catalogue to compare the measurements haven’t you?

Yes, but it is a 2005 copy, doesn’t go up to CAR99. 🙁
I will check them out though.
Thanks.

Found a piccy on Spareslink, CAR99 do look as though they will do the job, no call back yet so fingers crossed my filing has done the trick. 🙂

Thanks George, I did see a picture on my old and unused copy of Spareslink, have to say the actual carbons in that picture look a little porous, more like coke than coal. 😥
If you enter CAR99 on Masterparts site it comes up with around 10 alternatives including gen Whirlpool and Lux versions, the Masterpart UN12102 also has the green plastic holders similar to the gen ones.
