ParticipantI read in some technical document I found online that 8 kg AEG washers with 1600 and 1800 RPM spins should have lateral bars on the side walls, see item 5 on the following drawing:
I also remember reading a 5-year-old thread on the Washerhelp forum about a guy who had purchased an AEG washer and who had the manufacturer install “side support rods” in the washer to fix problems with noisy spin (not sure if these are the same as the “lateral bars” mentioned above, but I would assume that they are?).This weekend I found some pictures on the web of a dismantled AEG Electrolux LN78670 washer (PNC 914903924), a machine about 3 years old, and in these pictures I could clearly see lateral bars installed in the machine (see here, here, here, here and here).
However, as far as I can discern, in my own AEG machine (8 kg, 1600 RPM, 1 year old, PNC 914526692) these lateral bars appear not to have been installed. As I’ve also mentioned on this board before, I also think my washer is rather noisy on spin.
Does anyone here know:
- Whether these lateral bars are usually installed in AEG machines nowadays, or if they’ve been dropped?[/*:m:1hagsbyq]
- Whether it’s possible to purchase these bars somewhere (I haven’t found them on the exploded drawings on Electrolux’ spare parts web site, or anywhere else)?[/*:m:1hagsbyq]
- Whether having these lateral bars installed in the washer would potentially help reduce the noise on the spin cycle?[/*:m:1hagsbyq]

Excellent, thanks. Are they simple to install? And is it worth it, do you think?

Thanks. From the picture it looks like no screws are used for installation – is this a correct assumption?
