ParticipantHi
I have an AEG LAVAMAT 12700 VI TURBO washer dryer
Product number 914601902 02
It’s 8 years old but has been working well completing cycles. It’s just developed a fault. When switched on the LED which usually displays the prog time will turn on for approx 3 seconds then go out. Nothing on the LED in any setting. The orange power light next to the on off switch stays on.
If I try and switch it off and on again the LED will not light at all.
If I leave it off and wait a few minuets then switch in on again the LED will switch on for 3 secs then go blank.Welcome any suggestions? tried to see and error code but the LED switch off too quick. Will a fix be possible and worth the money?
thanks!

Sounds like the display is faulty.

Thanks, as well as the display LED not working the washer will not start, no programs will run. Would a faulty display unit prevent the washer starting ?
Any idea of cost to fix?
thanks for your help!January 23, 2012 at 5:41 pm #367674kwatt

Not being familiar with the machine I don’t know.
From your first post it sounded like the display, from what you’ve said now it could be any number of things and, until you drill down on what the problem is a cost to fix would just be a number plucked from the air.
Could be a door lock, mains filter, mains switch, PCB… any number of things.

Has the dryer side been little used? If it has not been used that often then it is very common for the dryer element to have poor insulation readings which throw up all sorts of strange problems.
The dryer element would need an insulation test, with the mains plug removed of course.
Can also be loose/poor connections on the PCB’s

Thanks, yes the dryer very rarely used so could be that. I will check for loose pcbs and inspect with power off and report back. thanks again.

I checked and remade the pcb connection by still have the fault.
Another clue is that I left the power off over night and when I tried to switch it on this morning I could start a program and in was ok for almost 10second before LED went out and everything stopped. If I leave it only an hour before switch on again it only stays on for 3 seconds.
A long rest period it effecting how long before it finds a problem and switches off ??? Would this point to dryer element insulation? If this is the porblem is it worth fixing on an 8 year old integrated washer dryer?January 24, 2012 at 5:11 pm #367678iadom

TBH the first thing you should have checked is the dryer element insulation, thats of course if you have a suitable multimeter or megger.
Well worth fixing if it is that, just use the dryer more often. 😉
