    Hi,
I have a Bitron Type 88 (I assume it is a type of valve) fitted to the inlet pipe of my dishwasher and it is leaking.
The numbers on the casing are 152.644.34 and 4.5 litres/minute.

I’ve taken the outer casing off and ascertained that the leak is definitey comng from the device, not from the joint above.

I tried to stop it up with some silicone sealer but that hasn’t worked.

I’m slightly worried because of the electric cable that runs into it, and keen to fix it so that I don’t have to keep emptying the bucket underneath!

Please can somebody tell me exactly what the device is for (can I just take it off and do without it)?

Also, assuming that I can’t simply take it off – any ideas for how to fix / replace it?

    Thank you.

It is called an ‘inlet/safety valve’ and will need to be replaced as a whole unit. Usually this type of leak is caused by frost damage as a rule, so it’s an odd failing during the summer months for sure. 😕

Make and model of machine required to ascertain the correct replacement part number and NOT the info you have provided so far.
