ParticipantHoover OPH 716 DF Washing Machine.
Had a major leak this evening.
Accessed the back and the leak appears to be coming from a hole towards the bottom rear of the outer drum / plastic casing.
The hole is about 6mm/3mm.
To my eyes, because it looks ‘neat’ I thought it might be a specific drain hole (if they exist in case of problems?), if not and something has caused it, can the hole just be sealed – would this alone solve the problem?
Tried uploading a video and an image but the forum says the image is too big?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

you could put the video on utube then add a link
try uploading the photo alone

Hope these links work.
Definitely a hole made by a coin but has created a few hairline fractures too.
Could I fix this with some sort of bond I.e. plastaid? Is there anything similar I could pick up straight away at screwfix / B&Q?
Many thanks

no the link wont work because its your personal space so we would need passwords
there may be a way of doing it but I avoid google so I don’t know
or you need to upload it to a public server for pictures or videos ( like utube for videos)

thought I would edit your post to add picture
yes seen this before. manufacturers answer is new drum
my answer. look around the drum for a bit of plastic you can cut off. there is normally unused bits you can pinch somewhere. then with a soldering iron using the bit you pinched as filler melt the plastic to fill the hole. take your time and make sure you melt it all the way round to seal it.
if there are tiny weeps when you have finished you can use silicone but don’t use it to fill the hole as it is not as strong as the plasticalso try to look for the coin that’s caused it

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the advice – I’ll take a look for the extra plastic.
Is it correct that something like milliput wouldn’t work in this case? Never used it – just picking up ideas from previous posts I’ve read!
Cheers.

don’t know have heard people have had good results but I have always melted it closed that way I know I have a good bond ( used Araldite with the old metal tubs)
if you can find the bit that came out you could use that to start but don’t just put it back and melt it as you want it bonded all the way insideDave
