    Hi Everyone

Thanks for your help in advance.

I have a SMEG DWF 410 SS. The machine stops giving error code E1 which shows that there is a leak somewhere and water is getting into the base of the machine.

I’ve opened up the bottom half of the machine and found that there is a leak from the connector seal to the water softner. I can also see a lot of residue on the sides.

I’m attaching a picture for your reference. I needed help with.

    1. How can I remove the water softner? I am struggling as it seems to be attached to the top and I can’t figure out how to open it or replace the seals.
    2. I’ve highlighted in the picture where the leak is (IN RED). I have also put in blue where the residue is, I can’t see any other leaks around this. But I can see that in the container there is a thick orange liquid. Is this meant to be there or is it just gunk that I can get rid of somehow?

    Thanks in advance.

It is a common leak area the O ring you need is pt. no. 754130591 (or a whirlpool pt. no. 481990500302 fit and is sometimes cheaper)

To replace these you remove the air chamber above by unscrewing the retainer inside the dishwasher. The regeneration unit (salt chamber) stays put.

The brown stuff is the softener gel which the dishwasher uses salt to regenerate after each wash.
