ParticipantHi
I’ve got a Miele WT 945 washer-dryer, and the 2-way inlet valve that supplies the dryer side (not the 3-way valve for the washer side) isn’t closing properly – it’s leaking slowly and constantly.
It’s the valve marked with the red arrow in this pic:

The result is that the drum slowly fills up – but I would’ve expected this valve to feed cold water to some sort of condensing unit and not into the drum itself (as feeding water into the drum during a drying cycle would seem counter-productive)?! Does the fact that the drum fills up mean that there is also another fault, like a crack/split that is letting water get into the drum where it shouldn’t? I don’t want to replace the leaking valve if there’s a bigger problem!
Also, I’m struggling to find a replacement valve – it seems to have a very low flow rate (0.25l/min) so I don’t think generic/universal filling valves are suitable. Has anyone got any ideas on where to find one at a reasonable price?

Thanks
Karl

the gen Miele one will be expensive the only other poss option is to remove the coil and see if the valve stem unscrews. if yes you can swop the rubber diaphram from a generic valve if that also unscrews

Thanks for the advice Dave – I wasn’t sure whether disassembling the valve was possible but as you said, the coil is easily removed by prising it up and then carefully pulling, and the stem then unscrews 🙂
The diaphragms look fine (no splits) but I noticed that the rubber end of the metal plungers have a distinct depression where they’ve sat pressed against the valve opening for years – I suspect this is the cause of the leak. For now I’ve cleaned everything and reassembled (there’s no leak now) but I’m planning to buy a generic valve and see if the plungers are the same size – if so I’ll swap the new ones into the Miele valve (or maybe just swap the rubber ends if that’s a better option).
I’ll post here with a conclusion when I’ve done so!

this is a generic dual valve. some unscrew some are sealed. if it unscrews it should work
