Got a call to a leaking Whirlpool AWM5145 wich the customer had emptied the filter and it leaked when she replaced it. I spotted water leaking out so ordered a new one. The new filter has a hole in it which looks like some kind of breather hole. Water is pouring out when machine fills. Any offers as to cause or is there something missing which screws into hole?

    Cheers
    Geoff

    Re: Leaking Whirlpool AWM5145 Filter.

the hole could be where the small hose to drain the water out of when the machine stops full of water. to the right of the filter there should be a hole where this drain pipe would be fitted onto the end is blocked off with a plug which clips onto the cabinet. I was at one the other day pulled the drain pipe out and the end broke off the pump leaving a holo about 1/4 inch diameter. i just put a bolt in it to seal it up.

Machine hasn’t got an emergency drain hose.

you sure your customer hasnt replaced the pump assy with the wrong one and just hasnt told you ?

if its coming from there and there isnt a drain hose pipe for it i would say there is something very fishy going on 😉

misread lol, if you have what you think is a breather hole then its where a drain hose connects to like has been already commented on blank it off 🙂

Ain’t going to be a drain hose there……..

    Filter 4812 480 58105 fits AWM 5145, 5145/1, /2, /3, /4.
    Filter 4812 480 56106 fits AWM5145/5.

So there are two………. Stick up the 12nc and I’ll double check for you.

    Chris.

Thanks Chris, If you look up 4812 480 58105 on connections, thats the part. On the third picture down the hole is visible. no drain hose attaches there.

    Hi Geoff,

you sure it isn’t a hole for a locking screw/bolt?

    Geoff,
In order to see correctly from where leaking is coming, just take out face lid of machine and put some water inside of drum. (power off).
If you identify that you have more pipes from drain house filter instead of tubes than simply stop it

i just put a bolt in it to seal it up.

Think it is for a locking screw. Going to have another look tomorrow.

    Thanks
