A Leibherr KLe 2340-23 built in larder fridge is not cooling suffciently unless ‘Super cool’ is activated. Compressor working well and condensor is clean with good air flow. The output from the compressor is hot and a good drop in temperature occours across the width of the condensor.
The evaporator plate is free of ice and the auto defrost is working. The only noticable item is the melting of the tar like substance wrapped around the capillary tube from the expansion vessel, at the point where it feeds back into the system.
Not sure I trust the digital readout and use a thermmeter placed inside which reads between 8 -10 degrees on normal running even at the coolest setting.
What might be the reason and at 12 years old is it worth repairing?

hello wudhut. you have a KIE2340 and the problem is likely to be the thermostat.
when you select supercool, you effectively bypass the thermostat and the appliance will run down to 2c for a limited period of time before the supercool function turns itself off.
im not sure about the internal temperature you’re getting with your thermometer.
where is the thermometer? top, bottom, front, back?
if it’s a mercury or alcohol one, you need to place it in a cup of water and put the cup in the middle of the fridge.
that way, you’re measuring the core temperature of the fridge and not just the air temperature.

    hope this helps.
