Hi my brother bought a leisure cs110f722x cooker about a month ago and also put down new tiles in the kitchen and the tilers left the place in a mess so he got in a guy to clean the place but whatever cleaning fluid he used on the tiles the fumes reacted with the stainless steel causing it to rust. The cleaners insurance has paid out and the brother has replaced the cooker and has given me the old one either to sell on or keep for parts. What I want to know is there anything I can treat the steel with to stop it from rusting anymore. To look at it you would not see the rust but if you wipe it with a white tissue you will see the rust on the tissue.

Odd though it may sound but a well documented treatment for all stainless appliances is BABY OIL. Go check out the many Google sites and read for yourself.

That stuff is horrible and sticks and things get stuck to it.. Walk away and get a bottle of ” Chromol ” it will do the job better and without the smelly oily stuff.

Hard to get hold of and costs silly money. There are cheaper alternatives of stainless steel cleaners available sold everywhere even your local corner shop sells it. But I assume bmrenr has already used a cleaner and simply wants to prevent rust returning.

Baby oil is odourless and, if applied correctly, leaves a microscopic film across the surface to protect and prevent corrosion. It is used AFTER the surface has been cleaned. It also is fantastic at preventing finger marks. A must especially on American style fridge freezers.

And also collects all the dust and hairs..Also leaves finger marks.Baby oil designed and formulated for skin..Chromol formulated for stainless steel..suppose you use baby oil in your engine martin or a hammer instead of a screw driver or a nail instead of a 13amp fuse.

Maybe 20yrs ago baby oil was the only things out there but things move on and develop.

Use the tools for the job and the results will show.

Cheers for the replies guys but I don’t think I can use the baby oil on the top where the gas flame would be what about the Chromol though?

Oh goodness me yes I fully understand your concerns here. Imagine a hob top swimming in baby oil the way Bryan assumed it is applied and then you fire up a gas flame, oh no!

Chromol is your ONLY solution it seems. I can run with that, if only to prevent further idiotic comments from ‘others’ that Bryan was so tempted to moderate.

Meanwhile live long and rust free my friend.
