Leisuremaster HAP5003 – two hob issues

Hello,

I am hoping that someone can help. I have a Leisuremaster HAP5003, 3.5years old with really irritating faults. Two of the ignition sparks have stopped working – gas flows to the burners but they don’t ignite. I’ve checked out the Leisure spare parts page but I don’t know which bit I’m looking for. Hopefully someone else has replaced these and can direct me to a part number (even if it’s via another supplier).

The second issue is that one burner’s “safety” feature has gone a bit crazy. When the two burners that work ignite, I twist the control knob, hold in for 4-5 clicks of the ignition spark and they stay on. The faulty burner doesn’t stay lit unless I hold the knob in for 30+ clicks. Can someone suggest which part I would need to be able to fix that burner and get it back to 4-5 clicks before the gas stays on?

In case anyone is reading this thinking they’d like one of these cookers, I personally wouldn’t recommend it due to irritating part failures such as that.

I should add that I will find a qualified electrician/cooker repair specialist to fit the parts, I’m not intending on tackling that by myself!

Best to have a gas safe engineer in as the top needs to come off to change part/parts required.

when you try to ignite can you hear the ignition sparking. ?

the second issue it part of the gas safety system. Part of the flame heats up a thermocouple. if the burner is dirty so the flame cant heat it up properly or the thermocouple is faulty it can cause this fault

As Kai says you need a cooker engineer with a gas safe acreditation

Ah yes, I probably wasn’t clear enough at the bottom of my post: it’ll be a gas safe / cooker specialist who I get to repair. Definitely not a DIY thing!

Yes, I can hear the sparking when I try and ignite the two that won’t light, I can’t see a spark from either of the ignition points.

The thermocouple is the bit I was looking to know the name of, thank you! It’s definitely not dirty (well, not as far as I can see), I have looked after this cooker and it is cleaned regularly, all the obvious bits get taken off although I draw the line at unscrewing things (I am safety conscious!)

if you can hear the sparking then its probably the electrode thats craked. thats the part where the spark comes from. if you make it spark without turning the gas on and look with the lights off in the dark you may see it sparking at the bottom of the ignition electrode

doing a quick dig around and if its just a thermocouple and 2 electrodes then your looking at less that £50 in parts. just picked 2 at random off your model but it gives you an idea

Thank you. The design of the hob means I can’t try the ignition without gas (it’s not a separate button), but the cost of the parts was what I hoped.

I just need to find the exact parts now. Maybe the Leisure apart parts site will respond to my request for assistance (based on previous attempts I won’t hold my breath).
