ModeratorIts an LG F1443KD6. I have not seen any of these before, It has a fixed (ie bolted to front and real panels) outer tub and the inner drum seems to pivot inside the outer tub, the total reverse of any normal washing maching and like a top loader tipped onto its side.
Problem is, wtih the drum empty or slightly loaded, these is the mother of all gaps between the inner drum and door seal, so large a pair of jeans even ended up stuck up there. The “back” of the inner drum hits the back of the machine even when machine is empty when set to spin causing a banging sound and clothes are being damaged.
The local LG agent has visited this machine and says there is nothing wrong but admitted to the customer that he has never seen one before.
I removed the back to check for loose or broken springs but all looks ok.
the drum is kept in position by this centre damper: (this is a photo of the rear of the machine despite what looks like a door seal around the drum pulley/direct drive motor).Question is: is this faulty and not doing its job? If this was a bit stronger it would place the drum central and remove the huge gap between the inner drum and the top of the door seal or is this just how they are and it is impossible to wash anything other than a 11kg load in this machine?
anyone come across these before and can advise?
thanks in advance.November 30, 2011 at 8:11 pm #364650admin

Thanks Bryan, would still like to hear from anyone with in the field experience of one of these. The sales bumpf talks about silent washes but with the drum hitting the back continuously then that is far from the truth!

Fixed a leaking fault on one of these things a few weeks ago(dispenser hose inlet to top of drum is very narrow so prone to blocking)
As I was there I asked the customer if I could give it the once over and she was ok with that. As far as I remember there were no large gaps between drum and
Seal . As for silent operation I don’t think so. Part of the wash cycle is like the top loaders with the drum doing
Half turns in each direction for a while then going to normal turns (don’t know why but it could just be for the yanks) on wash or spin though it did not hit the back.
Think I will only do blockages on these until I can get more info on them.December 4, 2011 at 1:05 pm #364653eastlmark

Thanks for that, yes mine did that strange drum action thing, I thought at first it was something i had done after I took it apart, trapped wire or blown a module or something! Customer confirmed it has always done that but it was a worrying moment!December 4, 2011 at 9:26 pm #364654keithwilliams

all i know about these is that i was amazed that a new gen door seal was only £11. hows that when you consider the price of a normal lg seal.

I have an issue with this little…… top off screws out bottom plate off screws off the 4 screws holding on the front plate off,the 4 screws from the front plate onto the tub off. But Istill am unable to remove the front plate, I think it has something to do with the strange door boot as it seems stuck to the front plate. no amount of pulling the unit up or pushing the plate up moved it . HELP. even tried taking the side panel off but there is a screw behind the front plate. Its the recirc pump im trying to replace as removing the PCB still wont allow my ridiculously large hands in. hope you can help . Cheers Johnnyboy

I only know LG had lots of drums failing on the early 11kg machines i did see lots of these scrapped and replaced by LG they were similar to the hotpoint/indesit ones that collapsed didnt see the damper on them but you prob heard about that fault
