ParticipantWhen washing a full load machine ‘stalls’ and display shows ‘LE’. I’ve watched when the problem occurs and I can hear the motor trying to turn the drum but it only manages a slight movement, tries 2-3 times then displays the fault code (in the manual says motor overload).
The machine is six years old and has had a new main pcb module fitted 2 years ago following some excellent advice given via this forum.
I know a washing machine engineer (unfortunately doesn’t work with LG machines!) who suggested over the phone it might be the motor capacitor but I looked for one on the machine and can’t find it. Is this built into the main PCB?
Any advice much appreciated.
Many thanks

As far as i can remember lg do not have a capacitor, Appears more to be a motor fault.

LE is a door lock or associated wiring fault.
Power off, if investigating.

Hi all,
LE is a motor related fault, could be motor or pcb, DE is a door fault code,
this appliance does not have a motor capacitor, i sugest you seek an engineer to help with this problem.Bob.

Thanks for your comments.
Does the fact that the machine works fine on a spin cycle perhaps point to it being a fault with the pcb? Seems odd that the motor would rotate the drum at full speed but not at slow speeds i.e during the wash cycle.

does the drum turn freely by hand with no restrictions? if so it could be either motor or module, LG fault codes are a bit vague! 😕 if drum is restricted by a foreign object the slow tumble resistance on motor may show this up to the electronics.

Just tried rotating the drum by hand and whilst it does seem to rotate quite freely there is a cyclic clicking sound that doesn’t sound as though it’s coming from the motor. Possible foreign object? I don’t suppose there’s any easy way to check without dismantling things?

the cyclic click could be the armature on the motor! 😥
