Went to this machine today at a hotel. It was not emptying but the customer said there had been a glass inside the machine at some time in the past and there were bits of glass in the sump hose. I cleaned out the hose and pulled the pump apart to wash out the spindle bearings. Tried it again and still there was a humming noise like the pump couldn’t turn. Noticed that pump was not hot as I would have expected but fitted a new one anyway. Still no different so I checked for live to the pump, no live so the humming must be from somewhere else. Decided to check the module for dry joints etc but found it is embedded in plastic. Rang EMW but they don’t touch these modules. Any more things I should check before ordering a new module? The machine spins OK if you drain it manually and seems to fill up to a suitable level when on a rinse so I think the pressure switch is OK.

Just a thought, the pump isn’t a different voltage is it as it’s supplied by a control PCB ?

Inlet valves are all OK ?

Thanks Dave. Yes pump is a standard Plaset 220 – 240 volt type. I hadn’t thought about the inlet solenoid coils, though I should have done 😳 I went to a Hoover New Wave last week where a short circuited solenoid coil was causing the machine to empty instead of fill up when on wash.
This is the sort of job I dread, deciding whether to spend over £100 on a part that I can’t return if my diagnosis is wrong. And it has to come up on a day when I’m running at about 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} efficiency with a stinking cold 🙁
