I recently had the ‘IE’ (inlet error) code appear on my machine. This, despite the fact it was filling with water as it should.
The rubber pipe that should be connected to the level switch had become detached. There is nothing to prevent this pipe from coming off the switch if it is put under enough tension. I think this was due to a power failure that may have caused the drum to stop quickly whilst spinning. This would have cause the drum to rotate more than normal on its mounting springs putting the pipe under enough tension to come off the switch.
I thought I would share this, in case anyone else has had the same issue.

check the suspension legs for wear I`d also, if you haven`t already, check the p/swt rubber hose for any tiny split-they usually muck up where the pipe is pushed on to the p/swt- and it`s a pin prick hole and not easy to see.

So glad to have noticed your post, it’s given me a glimmer of hope. My machine fills at a normal/good rate. The drum rotates briefly, more water enters as normal.
At 4 minutes, the waste pump operates and empties the drum, IE code appears. All stop. There is no leak. The dispenser is clear and clean.
Does this sound familiar to you? I haven’t as yet removed the top/back, but now I will. Can you provide any more detail, as to location of said level switch/pipe.
Thank you.March 25, 2017 at 8:02 am #4442081totalshambles

Sonds like the machine is over filling then this is sensed by the pressure switch and aborts the programme-pumps out in other words. The pressure switch should be on the right hand side area at the top of the machine and has a thinnish black hose pushed on to it, there is about a 3 or 4 wire plug connector to it.
What might be happening: there is a part blockage in the air trap causing the machine to over fill or a pin prick hole just under where the pipe pushes onto the pressure switch small nozzle. What you want to do is to empty the machine fully, turn power off, remove work top lid, pull off the p/switch hose and blow down it- any restriction that might be there then was your restriction and most likely cause. At the same time check the black p/swt hose very carefully for any small split. If you can`t blow down the p/swt hose, because it is well and truly blocked up, you`ll have to take the front of the machine off because most if not all LG`S have a wretched base fitted (! typical ) so getting at the sump hose branch-the actual air trap- itself is impossible. If you do this and the machine now works ok run a descaler through the machine afterwards at 60/80 degrees. If you blow into the actual p/switch don`t expect to hear a click/s, they`re not like normal p/switches of old.March 25, 2017 at 10:34 am #444209newfangledcrap

Thanks again for a quick reply. I shall see what I can do within the next few days and post a report…fingers crossed.

Had this fault a couple of times, check if the pressure hose has come off the pressure switch.

unfortunately its a VERY common fault on lg and some samsungs the hose is too bloody short and even when cable tied to clamp it to the switch, the next heavy load that causes the tub to lower good chance it’ll pop off again !

Yeah it’s crazy..looks like the ” ribbed” tubing is a good idea to prevent chafing and then to spoil it by the tube length and piddly connection to the switch! If/when it happens again, I shall find a way to extend the tube. Cheers.
