my one and half year old lg F1403RD washer dryer has recently developed problems.
during the faster part of the washing cycle it starts to make a lot of noise and then gets to the point where the motor is unable to even turn the drum round. the drum will move slightly at this point but only a few mil.
i’ve taken the machine apart to a degree, and after removing the motor i’ve found that there’s some play in the bearings behind the drum.
i’m fairly sure this is the problem, and i was hoping to be able to replace the bearings, but it seems the only way to do this is to strip the entire machine and take apart the plastic housing that surrounds the drum.
i’m not confident about being able to do this myself and put everything back together again in working order, or if replacing the bearing would solve all the problems.
i called pimlico plumbers earlier and described the problem and they said that if one of there engineers came to have a look at the machine they would almost certainly write it off, as it would be a 5 or so hour job.
i was hoping to get some more advice about this.
cheers

cheers dave
i’ve just checked and you’re right it is 2 years. someone told me it was only one year, and i assumed that they knew this for sure…
i’m on the phone to lg now, i’m assuming they’ll send someone to have a look, should i tell them that i’ve had a look inside/taken the machine apart a bit, or would that void the warranty?
it’s the second time we have had trouble with it so it has been opened (by people from lg) since we bought it.January 5, 2012 at 10:43 am #366541electrofix
