Hello – Our Washer trips the RCD as soon as I turn the On switch on. I have opened up the machine and remove the connectors to the water heater. Doing this allows the machine to stay on without the RCD tripping. I have removed the water heater and it was massively calcified. I cleaned it up and connected it again, but still it tripped the RCD whenever I turned it on. I have ordered a new water heater, but I am unsure whether this is going to resolve my issue. I have tested the old water heater element using an multimeter and it seems that it was within the resistance levels Ohms (30) for the element and 5800 for the thermostat. Anything else that could be causing issues??

Also would the machine still operate a cold wash with the heater disconnected?

the rcd is tripping because the resistance to earth is to low and has no bearing on the element resistance of 30 ohms

had a few of them where the heater bracket has rubbed through the metal casing. check for damage on the element. if non is found its still likely a new element will cure it

    Thanks Dave…

And the other question —if I disconnected the heating element – could I run a cold wash programme?
