KeymasterHello, I have an LG GR349SQF fridge/freezer. This morning it was found that both the fidge and freezer compartments were not cold.
For a long while the display above the fridge has not worked correctly but this has not seemed to have affected the performance of the fridge or freezer.
Both fans work but the compressor is very hot and does not kick in when the compressor fan does, i get a power supply down the blue wire to the connector, but no continuity to the top side of the connector (the bit which actually connects to the compressor) i bridged this out and there seemed to be little or no response. I think it needs a new compressor What do you think? Does this make any sense? HelpJanuary 24, 2005 at 10:55 pm #124300Dave_Conway

It does sound like the compressor to be honest.
Let it cool for 24hrs and try again, let us know the outcome.

its possible to test the start device with correct meter, depending on the type, its check for a resistance of 22 ohms on terminals 5 and 6 or 4 and 5. You can then test the toc for continuity.
For a compressor not running check…
Starting devices, TOC, compressor coils, thermistor and supply.
This is not a DIY job, if you are not qualified electrically, call someone who is.
The circuit diagram for this appliance does not list colours so I’m afraid “blue wire” is of little help.

I’m new to this site & just read your post. I worked for Service Force until recently & for a while we did guarantee work for LG.
This particular model of LG fridge freezer has a known problem with the pcb in the top. Basically you need to re-route the wiring away from the back of the pcb as the magnetic field generated by the loom interferes with the pcb control. The symptoms of which include the display control becoming inoperable and no power to the compressor. Hope this may be of help.February 27, 2005 at 4:30 pm #124303Penguin45

I too own an LG GR349SQF Fridge/ Freezer and have experienced something similar to the first post. The fridge appeared to be working as normal, i.e. external LCD showing 3 green lights and the internal lights working once the door was opened.
It wasn’t until going to the freezer, probably 24hrs after the problem had probably initiated, that we noticed that the motor wasn’t working at all and the contents were fully defrosted (we hadn’t had a power-cut in this time).
Upon turning it off/ on at the mains, the motor kicked-in and all appeared well. I put it on quick freeze and on returning to the freezer some hours later, the liquid ice packs I had put in were now frozen (so I turned the quick freeze off leaving 3 lights on the LCD). The following morning all 5 lights were lit, except for the first one (on the left), yet the fridge was still working as normal. Turning it off/on again didn’t resolve the LCD problem, only on the second occasion did it then work, but for only 15 minutes (the motor was not running).
If these symptoms sound familiar, some advice would be gratefully received.
