LG GR359SQ Frost Free Fridge Freezer

Hi, just been given this web address by a friend. You all seem a friendly bunch so here’s my problem; hope you can offer some advice:

For a couple of months now (so probably not a hot weather problem) my LG GR359SQ frost-free fridge freezer (two and half years old) has been producing a virtual ice rink covering freezer’s internal floor. The ice sheet appears to be multi layered. None of the food appears to have been defrosted, and the fridge (top) is working fine.

I remove the ice build up weekly to prevent the bottom drawer freezing into place.
Another noticeable problem – probably linked to the first – is a small drip from the bottom front corner of the freezer, near the kitchen floor. This produces a small puddle of water three or four times a week. The drip seems to be coming from the inner wall probably through the insulation material. This occurs when the whole outside front of the fridge warms up.
There bolt holes provided to hang the door on the opposite (R) side. If I unscrew one of these blanking bolts a small dribble will flow from there too.

Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry for being long-winded.

best advice i could give you is turn it off for 48hrs to allow, what looks like a blocked drain hole in freezer which you the cust cant get to, the ice to defrost and then see whaot happens

Thanks, Jimbob. After reading some of these postings, you may have confirmed what I need to do. 🙂
I’m waiting now for SWMBO to use up the frozen food.

For the time being I break the layers of ice build-up (a firm bang with side of my fist hand does it) and removing the loosened lumps. This has stopped the overflow of condensate past the door seal and onto the kitchen floor.

Update 10th July: I emptied freezer and left to defrost overnight. Removing the rear panel on the inside of freezer speeded up the process considerably. With this panel removed (held by screws and lugs formed into the panel edges), the heater element was accessible and large chunks of ice removed. Refitting was just a matter of pushing the panel back into place and fitting the screws.
