ParticipantHello gents,
I am looking at these two brands only, seems like the only two safest options at the moment.
I must confess though, I am leaning towards LG, so please change my mind with some expertise and trade wisdom.LG F4V709STS
Miele WCG120 XL or it’s similar siblings with 8/9KG 1400RPM sub 1k euro models. Why LG over Miele
Has the powerwash sprinklers
Steam for hygiene washes
Beefy direct drive motor
Quiet operation and quicker wash cycles due to 360 powerwash feature.
Less depth. so can be hidden in the kitchen like the build-in models. Why Miele over LG
Uses extra water for better wash results.
Easily serviceable
Better built frame with cast iron weights, stainless steel tub.
Reputation/quality.Going with LG I’ll be saving 200 euro.
Miele costs a firm 1k euro.Warranty 2 years on both ATM.
Please let me hear or read your thoughts, opinions, suggestions, whatever!

ModeratorHi
Your IP address suggests you are posting from Ireland which is why I didn’t recognise the model numbers.
Your enquiry is easily answered 😉
Miele are the best you can get in the ordinary domestic sector. The products are made of the best components produced by themselves nothing bought in. They have been making washing machines since 1899 so they know a thing or two. Yes they are more expensive to buy and yes the parts are more expensive and yes only Miele service service agents have access to tech info. The service is one of the best in the industry, spares are readily available and you can speak to them easily.
LG are known for producing gimmicky products in order to sell appliances, the spares are very patchy at best in getting to the UK which are mainly shipped from Korea. Service is usually provided through third party agents and the product build quality is not the best.
If you want a well engineered machine which will do what it says then the Miele is the only one.
Moved you to Buying advice.

ParticipantOkay thanks Don I appreciate your feedback however, could you elaborate on Miele model differences for me further?
I don’t mean gimmicky features like wifi/app support, touchscreens, LED drum lights, TwinDos/CapDos etc, but from the fundamental core parts that may be different among the entry models and say something up 1.5/2k.
Like is there a point in getting a mid to high end model, over an entry model? That’s the most important question here really.
Also, from what I understand, the 1600 RPM models are better insulated or soundproofed. What about the ball bearings differences if any? Or are there models with certain electrical front panel controls that should be avoided?
I’ve heard PCBs tend to die out on some models too, with fried transistors/resistors etc.No brand is fault free it seems.

ModeratorYou need to look at the Models from this link to start with. Personally I would go with 7 or max an 8kg machine for family use. The higher the price the more bells and whistles you get, the basic core of the machine is still the same. Miele appliances are designed, built and tested to last approx 20 years. Take a look also at any machine that has a five year warranty it may be advantageous link here for further info.
