    Hi,

I am trying to establish if the motor is the fault on an LG TD-C70045E. The fault presented itself as continued clean filter warning and hot smell when trying to use machine.

    Steps taken so far:

    – removed back and confirmed motor not turning, motor turns freely by hand.

    – tested capacitor, reads 10uF which matches rating on casing.

    – removed belt and motor still doesn’t turn unloaded.

    – motor has 3 connectors on it, I’m getting around 45 ohms between the outer two, but nothing between the middle and either outer connection.

    Motor is 4861EL1003A.

I’d appreciate any guidance on whether it is the motor or if I need to do anything else to diagnose it.

    Regards
    Wayne

    Re: LG TD-C70045E motor diagnosis

from what you say the motor has 3 wires

it sounds like a standard reversing circuit using a capacitor

look at the diagram I have labelled the connections A B and C

I am assuming the 2 connections you get a reading off is from A to B. you can check this as these wires go to either side of the capacitor

wire C is the common wire. it can be either live or neutral depending on the manufacturers design. A an B will be the opposite so if C is neutral A and B will be live

it is quite common for any motor overheat protection to be in the wire marked C and if this wire is open circuit the motor is dead

    hope this helps

    Dave
