I have a TDC70045E tumble dryer.
I changed the belt six months ago myself.
The problem I’m having now is that it sometimes fails to turn the drum when I turn it on.
When I close the door and switch it on I can hear the motor labouring and then it won’t move the drum.
Or sometimes when it runs for a while and then pauses it fails to turn the drum when it resumes.
When I open the door after it’s failed to rotate the drum and give it a spin by hand and then try again it sometimes resumes correctly. But not very often and nearly never when there are clothes in it.
Another side effect of this failure is that the heating element at the back of the appliance gets red hot while the drum is not moving.
Do I need a new motor?
Is it worth fixing if it’s the motor? Having changed the belt myself last time I understand now that it’s pretty easy to install a new motor.
Best wishes
Adrian
