only the second time I have seen one of these bizzare machines….
    display shows error LE
Motor struggles to turn drum, stutters almost sounds like drum pulley/stator is loose (it isnt, after taking out a million screws to check it) motor coils look ok, suspect a invertor pcb of some sort. Anyone any experience on these with this fault?

Hi mate: From what I’ve been told about these machines the LE error in theory is meant to tell you that the motor is locked up. But the error can throw up for a number of reasons: Use of too much detergent or the wrong detergent, apparently your supposed to use only HE low sudsing detergent. Faulty Hall sensor or apparently reasonably common is damage to the Hall sensor wiring due to poor routing in manufacture.

thanks, defo not a detergent issue. Machine is empty. Have read about the hall issue and will investigate it. Customer is persuing warranty claims – bought machine on net, no paperwork, no idea who from and when….only spent £900 on it as well. Will probably quote for pcb and motor windings and see how he responds.
Very odd machine to work on this one….. outer tub is fixed and inner drum suspended inside….

    hi eatmark,

i would go for the hall senser first as its the cheapest and most common fault fo LE errors.

Thought everything made by LG was weird to work on, do you remember the Goldstar video recorders etc ? The workshop boys used to draw straws for working on them :eeek: 😈

How the hell do they suspend a rotating inner drum ? The shaft from the spider has to go through the tank to the motor and that can’t jump about lol

Thanks, but would this be accompanied by the sound like the motor is loose or jammed? (its niether by the way, just sounds like it)

Man that’s a lot of work to achieve what?

Like the dyno beads, had them in bike wheels for years.
