    Hi,

New user here who has a 3 year old Hotpoint WT960 whose bearings have given up the ghost. We’ve never been satisfied with it, to be honest, as the rinse is poor and there is always a load of water left in the detergent tray.

To replace it we’re looking at the LG range of machines, either the steam models or the direct drive ones.

Does anyone have any experience of or opinions on LG machines in general and the ones mentioned specifically?

    Many thanks

    They seem okay.

Common issues are the program times, 20 minutes to do a spin only apparently and the bearings seem a weak point. Also leaking soap dispensers seem to be an issue.

Steam = hot vapour. The jury is well and truly out on whether or not it’s of any real use and most seem to feel that, so far, it’s not worth the extra cash for it. Apart from which, it’s something else to break.

Direct drive is a bit of a conundrum as LG says it makes the machine more stable yet there seems little evidence to support the claim (like many claims) and I have seen complaints about vibration on these machines.

If you are looking at the steam one though you’re up into £500+ territory on the bottom end ones so you might be as well to look at ISE and Miele as both are far more robust than the LG for not a lot more.

Sorry about slow response. Thanks for your thoughts.

I would never buy a Bosch anything again – washing machine lasted just 2 years (5 years ago) and a vacuum cleaner blew up after 13 months.

Mieles are expensive and I’m sure they’re good quality, but the possibility of being ripped off for a reset code puts me off. We have a Miele vacuum and have been very impressed with it (if not with the quality of the hose, but that’s a different story).

In the end, with the price of the ISE being better than an 8kh capacity Miele, we’ve gone for one of those. My personal life is on the line here, so it had better be as good as it’s made out to be!

    Thanks
