when to this today as it was not draining…easy, filter blocked. then she says…”oh while you’re here could you fit this new door seal?” ok says i, old one off, new one on easy. could i get the retaining clamp back on the tub…no! nathan and i strugglled through the porthole to no avail. as time was ticking i fitted a zanussi clamp spring in about 3mins. has anyone got a way to get the original clamp wire back on? the spring is very strong and defeated us.
adrian, thought of that but as it was a “while you’re here job” i thought it would be quicker to try throgh the porthole…is the panel off the way to get the clamp back on easier..of course there would be more room but the spring is very strong.

Personally, I’d rather spend 10mins getting the panel on and off. The spring is very strong, so it’s worth the extra effort just to make sure your boot and retainer are both fitted correctly.
The panel comes off very easilly, almost the same as an older Hotpoint WM series. When the front is off, the retainer is on in seconds.
You wouldn’t want a recall over that, especially as it was a ‘while you are here’ job 😉
hi front panel off is a must, but what i do to fit the spring clampy thing is undo one of the tub bolts around the eleven oclock positon, put a piece of wire thru the hook part eye, wrap it around the bolt and tighten it which gives you both hands free to pull the other part around.
hopr this helps
