    I have a LG washing machine that is coming up DE error. Do any one know what this means i notice that when i close the door i can pull it open again easily without pressing the handle.

    According to the LG technical information on the unit a, de error code is a door lock problem. Either the start/stop button has been pressed before the door is locked or the door lock itself is faulty.

    I replaced the doorlock and the machine started to smoke like mad so binned it

    Sounds like you put the plug on the interlock the wrong way round, shorting live and neutral. Very worrying since you’re apparently repairing washing machines for money… hope you have good public liability insurance!
