ParticipantLG WM12397TD washer. Serial no:- 508KWUC00782. 58WD2680.
This machine is the direct drive motor type. Customer reported a CE or LE fault – motor overload. I’ve looked at everything usual…. The bearings are perfect and the drum spins freely. Spin cycle starts, pump works fine. Then the stator is energised and the pulley locks solid with the magnetism and a loud “tinging” noise is heard. Sometimes the motor will turn the drum but there is a low, laboured sound from the coils and the PCB smells hot. The motor will ‘cut’ after a few seconds of running. All reminiscent of a induction motor coil failure. But…….
There are 2 PCB’s on this machine; one behind the fascia and a small square one with a large ferrite coil on it. I removed the drum pulley and the stator coils look as new. I can’t see anything amiss…….:?Any help please??
Thanks,
Steve.

Hall sensor can go but normally is the stator. Pcb’s one is display and the other is the main pcb. 😀

Hall sensor? What does that do and what does it look like? 😕
Stator is around £90 + VAT from Connect; not too bad. Thanks,
Steve.

Hall sensor is screwed onto stator and detects the spin but even though LG say the stator never go’s it is always better to change as when I have changed the hall sensor it is very hit and miss.

Hi Guys n Gals,
I know this post is a little dated now, but I have a similar problem to this original post…
However; what I’m trying to find out is who is Semes in relation to spare parts? (from the quote; “semes are the cheapest half the cost of connect”)Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

They still have a few bits and pieces but you can’t find them by browsing, or I can’t, even though I’ve got an account. Only way is to find out OEM part number and put that in their search box.
