The fault code of SE is a motor fault or possibly a PCB fault.this machine should have come with a 5yr parts and labour warranty or at least a 5yr parts warranty.

ParticipantThanks Bryan
The machine is at a customers house and we just wanted to know prior to visiting them. The machine stopped mid cycle and customer emptied drum via the filter. SE has been showing since.March 18, 2005 at 7:41 pm #129271admin

In that case are you sure the error code wasnt OE originally..check the pump filter just in case she had a large load and tried to spin whilst pump blocked and could cause an SE error as overloading the mtor.

Yes pump filter clean but now you’ve got me thinking. Haven’t they got an Askoll or Plassett pump? I seem to remember changing one in the past on another machine (impellor off).
Just for the record does it have a carbon brush motor?Cheers

Yep, it does. For reference, LG washing machines with FHB are belt and FHD are direct drive.

I dont think the carbons are changable though,i’ll have a look at a motor later this afternoon when I go into the office and letyou know,If the carbons are changable then I will have a set out of a fairly new motor that I can supply.

Hi, I thought these motors were brushless DC motors with commutation sorted electronically?

hi
Firstly….Read your handbook..!!!!
Secondly now i’ve got that off my chest ( it is in your handbook honest !! )
turn your machine off and unplug it.
bottom left of your machine is a flap..
open the flap
inside the flap there is a rubber hose with a bung on the end.
place a dish on the floor and put the hose into the dish and remove the bung
the water now comes out the hose and emties the machine.
place a towel on the floor in front of the pump filter which is next to the hose and turn this anti clockwise.
remove the coins ect that you will find.
replace in reverse order the items undone excluding the coins ect.

thanks so much Bryan, that worked!
had a wee blonde moment and opened the filter first – bit of a wet floor!
then found the hose and it took a long time but all the water came out.
Surprisingly there was nothing blocking the filter – it was totally clean!
put it back, turned the thing on and set it to spin – some really weird noises – but its spinning away now!!!
thank you very muchhope you have a nicer day tomorrow

Laura,
Please check the pump chamber again – it sounds as if something is actually in the pump and turning with the impellor, so it will probably jam again. Hands and knees, torch and a good feel about RIGHT at the back of the chamber.Regards,
