Yesterday my LG wm1485fhd stopped 8 minutes before the end of the cycle and produced an error code CE after consulting the manual it says its a motor overload alarm and to call for service.

Having an engineering background i thought i would do some diy detective work. After checking the drain pump and the drum were rotating freely and there were no blockages in any pipework i put the machine on the slowest spin cycle, once the spin cycle was approx 2/3 through i heard a water solenoid open and the washer was putting more water into the drum. Obviously not having studied the machines behaviour before the fault i cant say for sure but surely the Spin cycle only wouldnt add water 4 minutes before the end of the cycle? Also it never actually finishes the spin cycle just sticks on 4 minutes and adds water then spins? it stuck on 4 minutes for half an hour yesterday!

SO heres where i think the machines controller has lost its marbles, the washer will complete a any of the wash cycles almost perfectly until it get between 3 and 10 minutes before the end of the cycle and then produces the CE/LE error codes.

I have tried leaving the appliance with the power off for a few hours still no joy, any pointers would be appreciated.

    Cheers Kev

    Re: LG WM1485FHD Problems

    Curious one……..

The links between these two fault codes are the motor stator, which may be out of circuit, somehow; or the main PCB.

I’d start by looking very carefully for chaffed or broken wiring to the motor, and continuity through it.

Once you start talking PCBs, it’s probably time for a bit of pro help. They’re damned expensive, and making a mistake would be unfortunate……..

Stay safe, power off when investigating.
