Customer just phoned, ( the same one who had to hack away at his integrated kitchen to get the Hotpoint dishwasher out at the weekend )

Now his washer has gorn orf. Not looked at one of these before, says it made a loud banging noise then stopped. He has had a look and can see nothing adrift.
    Any known problems. ❓

A case of having a look at this one I think but the last two I saw that had exactly those symptoms the drum had “jumped” badly and smashed the main PCB to bits 🙁

    Hi Iadom,
First spin the drum and check the bearings if all is ok take the kickplate off, (1 screw behind the filter flap) then look thru the bottom to see if the suspension arms are the white ones. If so replace these, if you order some they will be black (new version)

Don’t think it will be bearings, it was running on Monday when I was looking at the dishwasher and it was fine. An unlucky (careless) customer this one, she has a Creda condensor dryer that has had two elements ( the expensive ones ) changed due to large bra wires shorting them out, I have just ordered a new element for the dishwasher, I wonder whats for breakfast. 🙂

On these the weights come loose, the suspension legs have been upgraded and the pump although £43.00 to buy trade is little more than a £3.50 askol. On top of that the suspension pins come out of the units and they do suffer from vibration unless the load is perfect.

other than that they are mediocre

That is the most polite description I have heard for some time, what you really mean is they are like at lot of today’s fare. C{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}^p. 🙂

Had a look at this earlier this morning, first time I have seen the inside of an LG. The controls seem well protected and out of the way, tucked behind the facia. I did not strip the machine down but it was obvious that the drum support/spider had collapsed. It has not tripped or fused. Customer says that she heard a noise then found the machine had stopped in mid cycle with the display showing 27, she could not get it to reset. I am guessing that it aborted due to the excessive load on the motor with the inner drum fouling on the outer drum & heater. I suspect this will be a BER job, but then it is 2 years old. 😥

Is the support bolted to the inner drum or a complete assy. Any idea as to the cost of parts, work involved. He has already intimated that he may go and buy a second hand machine to tide him over until a certain product (project) comes to the market. 😉

    :

I was under the impression LG comes with a 2 year warranty but I may be wrong.

Thanks Dave, diagram only shows drum but the parts list includes a spider. Will make some further enquiries.

Well that was a complete waste of time, phoned LG was asked for model number and part numbers only to be told, “we don’t deal with that sort of thing, phone Comet or Currys”

Another customer for Bosch methinks. 😉
