ParticipantHi guys,
I have a Liebherr CNES 4056 No Frost fridge freezer bought in 2009 (service number 9989186-01).
For few months now I have been experiencing a problem with the fridge not starting the cooling cycle unless I manually press the supercool button.
I have already posted on this forum about it some time ago, and from the replies and further testing I came to the conclusion that it was either a PCB problem or a thermistor/sensor. I ordered both and replaced them, but unfortunately it didn’t solve the problem.
When using the supercool, the fridge cools down quickly to 2 degrees, but as soon as the compressor switches off, it start to warm up again and it doesn’t trigger another cooling cycle regardless of the temperature configured (which I normally set at 4 or 5 degrees).
The sensor that I replaced was the fridge air sensor (the only one that I managed to spot in the fridge, in a compartment inside on the left side).
Does anybody have an idea of what else could it be?
I read most of the Liebherr-related posts in this forum, and in many similar situation the evaporator sensor is the main suspect, but I couldn’t find any evaporator sensor in the fridge, only the air temperature sensor that I already replaced.
Any suggestion is very welcome.
Many thanks,David

Hi David, it sounds like it needs the evaporator sensor. On this model, it comes as part number 9590084.
It comes in kit form and all the instructions are supplied.Cheers.

Hi,
thanks for the reply.
Do you reckon that the instructions will be reasonably easy to follow for a non professional?
I have looked around and at the back of the fridge (under the grid, of course) but except for the hole where the fridge air sensor is inserted, I couldn’t spot the location of any other sensor on the fridge section.
Also, in the Whitegoods shop section I looked for that part number but nothing comes out. On google I have some matches (from ebay) but what worries me is that the picture displays the kit as the sensor cable + the plastic cover, which looks like the air sensor that I have already replaced. My understanding is that the evaporator sensor might be an in-foam one, for my fridge model.
Any idea?
Many thanks.March 2, 2016 at 8:38 am #435811ELDAR59

The one from manufacture is a foamed in one.
The repair involves leaving that one in situ and fitting the new one with the kit provided.
We don’t see many of these, but the fridge evaporator sensor is distinguished from the others by the green marking on the connector block.
If you cant find one on this site, maybe drop them an email. If you still cant find one, then Liebherr are on 0333 014 7888.Cheers.

Hi Eldar59,
I just wanted to thank you again for your help and advice.
It was indeed the evaporator sensor and I managed to recycle the fridge air sensor that I had replaced before, placing it inside the fridge next to the back surface and connecting it to the PCB (green connector).
From my initial tests it seems to work fine (the fridge triggers the compressor when the temp rises and keeps the temperature between 2 and 6 degrees).
Many thanks again.
Cheers,David

Hi Poce,
It would appear I have the same problem with my fridge.Could you give me an idea of the cost of an evaporator sensor and how difficult it is to install/replace?
