    Hi

My Liebherr f/f 7080 441 (KDves 3142, serv no 0913699-01) is about 12 yrs old and isn’t cooling down correctly.

The problem was first noticed about 6 weeks ago, when the freezer temp was 1-2C, and the fridge more or less room temp. We dumped the freezer contents and started using this compartment as a fridge. An engineer came to inspect but couldn’t get proper access without having to remove a wall cabinet above; he thought it might need re-gassing and arranged to come back a few days later. I removed the cabinet unit above and then noticed the next day the temp had dropped – the freezer was sub-zero and the fridge was colder, but no less than 9-10C.

I thought problem may have had corrected itself (better ventilation round back?) and agreed with engineer to leave regassing for now. Three weeks later same problem occurred in rise of temp. During this time fridge never really got colder than 8C (top shelf).

When I spoke to engineer on phone he thought regassing won’t work – believing it to be a pipe blockage.

I was looking for a second opinion, before taking steps to buy a new one.

I note from General advice on this forum it may also be:

    Changeover valve faulty
Compressor pumping weak (highly likely on older machines 8 years or more old

Any thoughts or advice to check if any of the above faults?

    Thanks

    Daljit

    Re: Liebherr f/f not cooling

Well, it’s not a gas leak or blockage. 😉

I’d be willing to bet it’s one of the two issues you’ve identified, neither are easy for you to check. However, since I can’t see a diverter valve on that model…

    Re: Liebherr f/f not cooling

    Ok, thanks.

A weak compressor suggests that cost of a repair will be high, and probably better option to replace the unit. I’ll start my search now…

    Thanks again.
