Hi, I have a Liebherr upright freezer coupled to a similar fridge. The are installed under a cupboard unit with ventilation space behind the cupboards above the rear of the appliances and a small, (2cm) gap each side. (This is in southern Spain, they were bought here) The problem we are having is in summer, the freezer keeps cutting out. I have read the advice in the forum about high ambient temperatures and thought that this may be the problem, however, if the fast freeze button is pressed, the freezer will then go down to, and maintain minus 23ÂșC. I don’t think that the fast freeze will override the thermal overload cutout on the compressor, or am I wrong in this assumption. Also. would the thermal protector reset when everything cools down?. That doesn’t happen in our case. The freezer service number is 9987594-02. It’s about 14 yrars old. I don’t want to change it as it will entail remodelling the kitchen, not to mention a new fridge as well!.

No, you can’t override the safety stuff at all.

It does sound as if potentially the compressor is starting to stuggle on the freezer though.

First thing to find out is, what is shutting it off, it could be a sensor issue or the compressor overheating, once established a repair or modification is needed. Once super frost is pressed the unit will keep the compressor running constantly until pressed again or the time out elapses.
Might be worth fitting a small circulation fan in the compressor area to move some air around if high ambient temperature is causing the compressor to over heat.

Thanks Guys. I’m leaning towards a sensor problem I think, as I have had to change the sensor in the fridge several times, having been told by UK Whitegoods techno that they are the usual problem in the fridges. First and cheapest option anyway!. (I hope).
