ParticipantHi can anyone advise on where to obtain a wiring diagram for this no frost fridge freezer, fault is that the internal fans are not running on either fridge or freezer compartment.I want to check if its the pcb at fault.
thanks

The fans only work if the doors are closed.

Thanks for the reply, I used the magnetic contacts to bypass doors being open so there’s no door open alarm. how do i check that the board is not at fault, when the compressor starts should the fans not start running I have checked the fan connection block and there is no 240v power coming through the cable block that connects to the freezer compartment fan.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be.Thanks

Hi
Also the freezer fan won’t run until the evaperator reaches approx -17oc. the fridge fan will run if the door is closed and the super cool button or the fridge fan button is on.

Hi thanks for the advice, freezer fan did start running for a short time although it seems that the compressor will only run for a short period before shutting down. Evaporator pipes are freezing up on the coils and compressor is not excessively hot but the clixon is cutting in and out. Could it be short on GAS but i’m dubious as wouldn’t there be no freezing up on coils as its sat for quite a long time not working ie 3mths now.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi everyone,
DOES THE EVAPORATOR SENSOR SEND A SIGNAL FOR FREEZER FAN TO START, THE FAN STARTED FOR A BRIEF TIME ONLY 10-15 SECONDS AND THEN STOPPED IVE HAD A METER CONNECTED TO THE FAN AND ALTHOUGH THE COMPRESSOR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A LONG TIME WITH GOOD HEAT TRANSFER TO THE CONDENSOR COILS THERE HAS BEEN NO FURTHER POWER OFFERED TO THE FREEZER FAN EVEN THOUGH THE EVAP COIL IS FREEZING.THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

HI
To be honest..you trying to work on it with the door open is a waste of time as the evaperator won’t get down to the correct temperature . have you tried replacing the freezer evaperator sensor ?..Thats where I would start.

Hi thanks for the reply, I have been testing it with the door closed to confirm that the freezer fan is operating also checked temperature with infared thermometer and multimeter to confirm that the power is going to the freezer fan. I tested the evap sensor with meter to check that there is a resistance change during freezer evap icing up and that seems to be working as it should, the only fault i can see is that the power being supplied to the fan motor is short lived and not constant even though the compressor is running for a long time. If the evap sensor is ok what sends the signal to ask for power to the freezer fan?
Thank for any advice.

Hi everyone, I am still hoping for a reply to my last post on what asks for the freezer fan to start is it the evapoator sensor? and if it is does it look likely that the pcb board is at fault if the sensor resistance readings increase as the evaporator temperature lowers.
Thanks for any advice.

I believe that it is most likely your evap sensor is at fault, the resistance reading most correspond with a specific temperature. The temperature that the sensor is reading can be found in the service menu.
The fan should start at around -24c providing the sensor is reading it correctly and the door is closed. The fan will do a short run cycle from initial power up.February 15, 2015 at 6:20 pm #424355lefthooker

Hi Tony R,
Many thanks for your imput on my problem, regarding the evap sensor you mention a service menu to compare resistance reading do you know what specific resistance i should be looking for with the sensor in relation to fan start up if that makes sense to you. I am an air con engineer and want to save my mum buying a part that is not required.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi lefthooker , yes all of the above advise from the engineers need to be checked ,ok…. is the freezer evap coil in your opinion iced / frosted over evenly , ?
Thermistor approx. readings + 20c = 6kohm / + 10c = 9k / 0c = 15k / -20c = 45k, in the past I have known the evap fan motor take up to 30mins +to fire up , cheers johnFebruary 16, 2015 at 12:44 pm #424357Tony R

Hi lefthooker,
The fan will start at -25c with a resistance of 60 Khom.
Although you only put in part of your model number with no index number as well. I can only give you limited info at this stage.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your imput, the model is ICUNS 3013 20B/147 i’m back on the fault finding trail again !! just switched it on and here’s what i’ve found.
Run up and after 20-30 mins Compressor casing temp 53C Cond coil 33.6 and evap coil -21 it seemed that the compressor was running quite hot but there was good freezing to the evap coil I did part remove casing’s from evap to check sensor etc and test ran it this way. The freezer fan did not run at all i assume due to not reaching the correct temp but the compressor has stopped running after 45 mins and has just started up again after 10-15 min of being off.
Any ideas on what to do next, it is puzzling me as i want to solve it.

Hi Lefthooker, sorry for delay in reply been very busy.
Lets Go, the fridge fan will start if the fridge is 12c or colder and the ambient sensor is lower than +20c but will run all the time with super frost on, and door is closed.
Why is the compressor shutting down, and is there power to it when it stops, if it has power and it has tripped on overload, what amperage is it drawing when running ? Have you checked its running pressure ? it could be the compressor is not pumping or it may have a gas leak.
These systems run in a vacuum around -10 to -20 inches.
If unsure, remove gas ( it can be vented in a well ventilated room by vac pump ) recharge with scales but add 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} less than rated charge due to dissolved gas in the compressor oil, but do not exceed by more than 6 grams less than rating. Rerun and confirm freezer evap sensor reaches -25c at which fan will run with door closed. -
