Cant access your photo to see the ice, could be worth deicing it, use a hairdryer and once clear, retest the unit.

Thank you Tony, the freezer drain is blocked. Looks like you are onto something

Since clearing the drain, the unit has stopped making a lot of noise, the grid at the back of the unit is now warm to touch, rather than lukewarm as previously. There wasn’t a lot of water that came off when I blow dried the radiator-like thing at the back of the freezer, so could this be a fix?

The alarm light stopped flashing for a bit, but then after some more time, started beeping and flashing as before.

Tony, I’ve found a possible replacement unit that is ‘graded’ with one year warranty because there are dents, one of which has punctured the insulation to the fridge. Would that be a reason not to buy it functionally (I don’t mind about cosmetic)?

The hole looks like it is a place that will not be near any refrigerant pipework, so should not be an issue.

I still don’t think there has been a correct diagnosis of this fridge freezer, because it seems like an electrical fault rather than the compressor. The reason being that if I do a proper reset on it, leaving it switched off for a full hour before turning back on, it will work for several days before beeping again. That is why I thought the initial fix had worked for a few days.
If I just reset it by switching off, then off at the wall, [not waiting the hour switched off ] and back again, it will come on, but only for a short time. That can’t be the compressor can it? Given that if I do the full reset, it will chill for a few days before the alarm starts up again.
