    Hi all,

Hope someone with better diagnosis skills than me can help.

I have a Liebherr CUN3031 Fridge Freezer that has a freezing freezer and a cool (not quite warm) fridge.

I’ve read a ton of websites and forums and can’t seem to find a solution. I’ve disassembled the easily accessible areas of the fridge and freezer to look for any visible issues and have had it turned off for 24 hours to see if that helps.

The fan in the freezer works perfectly, but the back wall in the fridge is only just cool. Adjusting the settings in the fridge don’t seem to make any difference.

The interesting thing about this fridge is that there is no physical hole (if you will) between the freezer and the fridge for cold air to travel. The ‘coldness’ seems to be transferred through a pipe up the back wall of the fridge. So there’s nothing I can see to get blocked by food or gunk.

We bought the fridge in 2008 and it broke down in 2010 – completely not working. We called and engineer and he replaced the main PCB (at £180!) and that seemed to fix it. Since then it’s gone warm for a day or so but nothing else.

I’m really hesitant to call out another engineer if possible as the costs of this fix and the others will be more than the new fridge itself.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂

    Thanks in advance
    Sam

It is most likely a faulty fridge evaporator sensor faulty.

It’s likely to be any one of a few things really.
The first thing I would check would be the freezer evaporator. Is it blocked? Is the drain hole in the freezer blocked?
Your fridge has a wet wall evaporator and the fridge compartment is cooled by conduction from the back wall, as opposed to convection from the freezer evaporator. The flow of refrigerant to the fridge is controlled by a valve.
The problem could be attributable to the freezer evaporator being blocked, the valve being faulty or maybe even a system fault – a refrigerant leak more likely than a compressor fault.
I wouldn’t suspect an evaporator sensor fault, as you say the freezer is frozen and the evap sensor in the fridge controls the compressor.
It sounds like engineer time to be honest, but you really need one who knows your appliance.
Have you tried the search facility on this site? Failing that, try calling liebherr themselves.
    Hope this helps.
