    Hi
Wonder if anyone has had a similar problem or can help.

Our Liebherr fridge (SKes 3600) has started to freeze items at the bottom of the fridge. The temp gauge indicates 7 degrees with temp control on the lowest possible setting.

I have noticed that the fan does not operate when the door is shut, and that the internal back plate has an ice coating.
I suspected the fan as being the sole culprit, and was going to replace it. However, should the back plate be covered in ice, and would air circulation be enough to stop food freezing ?
Or could the thermostat be at fault? Does the thermostat control the fridge fan ?

It would also be useful to know how to gain access to the thermostat.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Update on the previous post of mine….

The fan is working, but is obviously not receiving the signal to operate.

    Re: Liebherr Fridge keeps freezing

Liebherr Fridge Freezers are prone to NTC failure causing the fridge to get too cold I would replace that first.

I am having the same problem, what is NTC failure and how do I go about repairing it? I have been advised by Whitegoods Spare that this model does not have a thermostat.

The freezer fan on a liebherr wont operate unless the freezer is below -10c and as the previous post say’s their NTC’s really are a weak point and could be giving the board duff info. And in responce to whitechurches post an NTC take the place of a thermostat and sends the info to the circuit board but depending on the model there can be upto 3 fitted on a liebherr.

    Re: Liebherr Fridge keeps freezing

It’s not the freezer thats causing my problem, the food in the fridge is freezing and water and other liquids are freezing also. The model of my unit is Liebherr Skes 3600 index 20 / 147. Service number

How many NTC’s are in this fridge and is it possible to indicate where they are located? I have seen elsewhere on the forum how to test them. Thanks in advance for the help.

So far as I can tell from the spares info, there’s one air sensor used in that fridge, which is this one:

It’s mounted behind the rear evaporator cover by the looks of it.

    Re: Liebherr Fridge keeps freezing

Thanks Kwatt, can this be removed from the rear of the fridge or is it removed from inside the food compartment? I see from another forum that a good sensor will read about 13K Ohms at room temp, and a bad sensor will read open. If the unit is faulty is it ok to cut the cables near the sensor, and solder in the cables of the new sensor? Or do I have to replace the wiring all the way to the control board?

    Re: Liebherr Fridge keeps freezing

I’ve never done one but I would assume that the back panel in the fridge at the evaporator will need to come off.

I don’t know where the connection is either I’m afraid, it doesn’t show that.

Thanks K for the help, any idea where I might get my hands on a service manual?
