ParticipantI have a Liebherr KTPes 20D/147 fridge. Recently a problem has occurred. The fridge compressor keeps switching on then off every few seconds. When the door is open the light comes on and off in time with the compressor coming on and off. Operation of the fridge controls is not possible. I have switched the fridge off at the plug. Can anybody help with diagnosis so that I can order the correct part.

To be honest that sounds like a classic compressor failure and if that’s correct, you cannot replace that on a DIY basis as you need gas and specialist tools to do it.

I am no expert on fridges but I don’t understand if the compressor is faulty ie pulsing on and off why that would cause the interior light to pulse on and off at the same time. My thoughts where that if the door switch was at fault that would directly effect the compressor and light. The theory being that when the door is opened the light comes on and the compressor stops!

Depends on the setup.
Often the compressor won’t stop running, the fridge fan might usually though. They’re not all the same.
And I can’t think on any reason the light would pulse in exact time to the compressor running unless it’s been tampered with and wired up incorrectly.

Hi Simon, can you supply the full model number as you have left out the 4 numbers after KTPes.

Tony
Model number; KtPes 1750 index 20/147.
Further to the symptoms already mentioned the temperature display, internal light and compressor all pulse on and off at a rate approximately every second. When I attempt to switch the fridge off there is also a beep noise when I press the on/off button which also pulses with the other items and wont turn the fridge off. I have to turn the fridge off at the plug.

Hi Simon,
From what you are saying, I believe the electronic board is malfunctioning.

Tony.
