Hi, I have a GN 1066 freezer which has stopped getting down to temperature. The freezer is about 3yrs old. The compressor runs and I can see ice forming when I remove the air flow panel inside. The fan doesn’t activate. I managed to access the service mode and manually turn it on so I know it works. The door sensor also works ok, it beeps if you leave it open and I also tested it in service mode. Not a great time to be without a freezer so any help much appreciated. Thanks

Can you supply the index numbers and service numbers from your rating plate as without this I cannot identify your exact model, despite knowing part of your model, there are loads of variations of the GN 1066

Hi, thank you for the reply. It’s a GN 1066 20F/001 Service number 9988931-06.

Hi Paul, there are certain conditions for the fan to operate, the coil sensor must be reading -25c, or 2c below air sensor in normal operation, the compressor must be running and the door closed, all other conditions fan is off.
If you have access to the service mode as stated, go to the E menu and find out what the sensor is reading, you are looking for program r4 this will flash alternately with the temperature it is reading, a temperature reading should also be taken of the coil at the bottom centre to confirm it is getting to -25 or below with a digital probe thermometer to compare actual reading and what sensor is reading.
So if it is around or below -25c on thermometer, and sensor 4 in service menu has a higher reading, replace sensor 6942809, there is not stock of this part at present at Liebherr, so try this site they may have one in stock. Tony.

Hi Tony, thanks again for the reply. Well it looks like the coil isn’t actually getting close to temp. Had it running for about 4hrs and it achieved -2c. I had presumed due to the frosting up on the top of the coil that the cooling part was working. E4 display did match the thermometer I used however. Paul

Hi Paul, it looks like either a weak compressor or a loss of refrigerant is preventing proper freezing, only an Engineer will be able to confirm this with a site callout.

Hi Tony, yeah, I already have a Liebherr approved engineer coming out tm afternoon. Booked as a backup when I found the issue but was hoping to fix it myself. Thanks for all your help and enjoy the sunshine. Paul
