ParticipantFirst post so apologies if incorrect. I have a Liebherr Vinidor wine chiller, type: 261154. Service number: 0918751-00. A fault developed a few years ago where the chiller stopped chilling. The compressor runs and all power is present. No fault display codes appear. The chiller is now really a storage unit in my kitchen but I would like to try and repair it. I remember it started to go faulty after direct sunshine shined in the glass door. Could this have damaged the thermostats? Any help would be greatly appreciated? Unfortunately I don’t have a Liebherr service agent under 200 miles away (live on Shetland!)

ParticipantHi Dave,
im pretty sure it’s the compressor running. You can hear what sounds like a circulating noise and all seems normal for a fridge unit but stays at 18 degrees. The unit was ex display in a local retailer which is no longer in business. I would say around 2009 maybe 2010 The unit has barely had a years running (looks like new) so was always reluctant to dispose in case it was a simple repair. I have tried to upload a photo of the data plate inside the fridge but having no luck!

Moderatorif the compressor is running then its a refrigeration fault. all the thermostats do is switch the compressor on and off.
you also dont need a dedicated service agent. the unit is out of any warranty so you need a find a capable refrigeration engineer.
you could look to see if we have members here

ParticipantHi Dave, thanks for the information. Unfortunately no results on local repairers. Is there any checks I can carry out which may help determine fault?

Moderatorwell find the compressor and make sure its running. you should hear it and it should get warm.
if it is running and its not getting cold at all it has all the makings of a refrigeration fault which means lack of gas or compressor failure. the only thing that may be as I don’t know the unit and have no part tech access. There may be a fan that circulates the cold air. if it does have a fan make sure its working
if it turns out to be a refrigeration fault then its a specialist repair

ParticipantHi Dave,
Apologies in the delay in replying. Thank you for your message, I can confirm the compressor is running (Embraco EMY55CLP). It does get warm. The fan is operating too. One side of the compressor the pipe is warm & the other side (sunction maybe?) the pipe does feel cooler when running. I’m guessing it still sounds like a refrigeration fault since both top & bottom chillers both don’t cool. I’ll try and track down a local refrigeration engineer. Many that’s for your assistance though.cheers
Kevin
