ParticipantI am hoping a washer engineer can answer this.
Are those liquid-tabs made out of plastic? I hear various things from different people and some say they are bad for washing machines whilst others say they are fine.
Another thing is how does dissolved liquid cling to the insides of a washing machine when in theory its a dissolved solution?

It is a form of plastic, I think, that is dissolvable.
The makers aren’t exactly forthcoming with the trade secrets of how they do that or what it’s made from but, it does completely dissolve.
Reading this article will help to begin explaining the rest…

Very informative article thanks. Now I know the tabs are made of plastic I don’t think I will use them. Will stick to powder mostly.

I have seen the slimy plastic residue from these satchets stuck all over the inside of door seals on the odd occasion.
The real problem with them in very soft water areas like we have here is that you cannot reduce the dosage and in many cases even one capsule is far too much.

I had to add water to the machine just to dissolve the sachet. I find even in hard water one sachet is too much for normal soiled clothing. Have been rinsing for eternity!!
I often wonder though where the dissolved sachet goes and whether it does lurk in the drain hose.

Overloading or general use basically.
Used correctly, there should be no problem.

No mystery, it’s just gelatin.

Uhm, I’ll think you will find that it isn’t.
