Okay, you can detach and resize the chat window by pressing the button marked for restore (the two little squares next to the cross to close the window) and that let’s you resize the window at will but the page does still have to be open. Nice trick, I like that. 😀

Anyway, to register your username on the server press the “Status” button which brings up the console window, that’s the one with all the connection gobbledegook on it, you don’t need to know about it. then type the following using your username instead of in the command line:

    /msg nickserv register

That’s it and you’ll get a message back telling you the password.

    Any questions, just ask.

    Thanks.

If you get an error message or something telling you that you need Java installed, you do and MS fell out with them so it does not automatically load. However if you go to http://www.java.com and press the big “Download” icon you can get it easily installed and it’s pretty easy to do so.

    OK, I’m converted !!

After using MSN messenger this is a little more tricky for those of us not used to all the keyboard functions, but once you get used to it (which doesn’t take long) it’s actually more versatile (and fun) than other instant messaging/chat programmes.

    Give it a go !!

I’ve put up a document in the downloads section that gives the basics on how to use the chat room.
