Interesting article that, if they get it, will cost manufacturers a fortune!

And they thought that they were hard done by things as they stand.

would it be fair to assume that if manufacturers were made responsible for end of life stuff, would they factor in better reliability to save costs?

Or just bump the cost on up front.

    Not that I’m a tad cynical. 😉

Won’t be easy to get money from manufacturers who supply global markets, to finance collection schemes in certain countries. That will involve a lot of fiddly administration with plenty of opportunities for money getting mis-directed (to Swiss bank accounts.)

just be added onto purchase price somewhere
tbh its the people who keep buying cheap rubbish that are causing this – maybe there should be a leaflet etc ontop of the appliance stating its life cycle and what it will cost to get rid of ..

maybe a sliding scale of end of life fees, depending on quality of product ..

if retailers were forced to display life cycles etc – then maybe customer would be able to make an informed choice – rather than been sold whatever the saleman has been told to sell
