I’ve bought the belt and installed it as far as I can, but now it needs to go around the motor and the tension wheel.

However, every YouTube video I’ve watched shows easy access to removing the plastic shroud, with either a simple clip or couple of screws, taking out the fan, and threading the belt through. The layout of my tumble dryer doesn’t seem to match that. The plastic shroud doesn’t seem to come off easily—it looks moulded in place. I’ve tried removing the motor by unscrewing the plastic brackets holding it, but it won’t budge.

My friend thinks the plastic fan cover can be pried off with a screwdriver, but I’m starting to think it might be glued on.

The yellow clip at the bottom doesn’t seem to serve any real purpose—it’s not big enough to hold the plastic cover in place, and the plastic square at the top looks glued. I’ve also marked the edge of the plastic shroud in red, and it feels completely stuck with no way to get a screwdriver in there, and I don’t want to break it.

As someone who’s not a DIY expert, I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I just need this last step to finish the job!

    Brilliant thank you, Dave

Coincidentally, I had the fan off to move the drum to get the belt through, but I had put it straight back on as I wanted fewest parts off the machine at once!

Thanks again, I was really stuck.
